Roommate Season 2 vs. Season 1

For those of you who have never heard of Roommate, it is a Korean variety show that features 11 celebrities living together in a share house, sharing common spaces such as the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms, as well as household tasks. For more information you can look at the Wikipedia page here.

Roommate season 1 started off with decent ratings but continued to rapidly drop with the majority of the original members leaving. It was then announced that season 1 would be cancelled and replaced by season 2 with the addition of new members.

So here are the 3 reasons why Roommate season 2 is way better than season 1, in no particular order.

1. New cast members
The new cast members are way more interesting and outgoing than the previous cast members, which makes the show a lot more lighthearted and fun. Also the fact that there are two comedians and three foreign members, calls for many funny situations.

2. More guest visits
So far there have been three guests that have visited the share house in the first few episodes of the show. These guests being Danny Ahn from g.o.d (Joon Park's guest), Chaeyeon (Ryohei's guest), and YoonA from Girls Generation (Sunny's guest). Having more guests visit may not be that interesting to some people but it does show the cast members' true personalities and personal stories.

3. Funnier
This goes along with the new cast members. The show is way more funny because the cast members are hilarious. From  Youngji's (Kara) "uvula laugh" to the funny antics from Jackson (GOT7) and Joon Park (g.o.d), not to mention Gook ju's love of all things food.

I was originally very excited about Roomate season 1 with the announcement of Park Bom from 2NE1 and Chanyeol from EXO joining the lineup. After watching 10+ episodes I found the show started to get boring as it started to focus more on Nana and Jo Seho and a possible love line between them.
If you couldn't already tell, I find season 2 of Roommate way more entertaining, so give it a try if your looking for a new Korean variety show to watch.

Unable to watch anime?

Has your favorite anime website been shut down? It might be because of the new law that the Japanese government launched in order to prevent illegal uploads of anime and manga. The Manga-Anime Guardians project is created to remove any illegal uploads of anime and manga which means the websites that hosts them will be targeted and forced to shut down.

According to Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) over half of anime and manga fans in the United States watch and reads pirated works, the estimated cost of damage from online piracy is around $20 billion worldwide. In recent years the pirated websites begun to earn revenues through advertisements, selling Apps and URL shortners that pay according to hits. The Manga-Anime Guardians project claims that “They are exploiting Manga and Anime just for the sake of money,”.

Here’s a small list of targeted websites:
Manga Hosts
  •          mangareader
  •          Mangahere
  •          Mangafox.me
  •          Manga panda
  •          submanga.com

Anime Hosts
  •          Youtube
  •          FC2
  •          Dailymotion
  •         Youku
  •          Niconico

New Anime!!!

Hello to all anime lovers out there!

Have you had a chance to look at the upcoming anime’s being released? If not then don't worry I'm here for you! Here’s a list of upcoming anime’s that caught my attention, please note that it's not in any sort of ranking.

Wolf Girl & Black Prince (Okami Shojo to Kuro Oji) – Erika talks to her friends about boyfriends and romance, but in all her sixteen years she's never actually dated anyone. She thought her lies had reached a limit until one day she takes a surreptitious video of a good looking guy she saw in town. She brags that he's her boyfriend, but it turns out that his name's Kyōya Sata and he's just transferred to her school. She tells him what's going on and offers to admit to her lie, but it turns out that under his sweet exterior, he's actually a malicious sadist. Seizing on Erika's weakness, he orders her to be his dog. (Source ANN)

Gugura! Kakkuri-san - A little girl named Kohina ends up summoning a Kokkuri-san, a lower-ranking ghost in Japanese folklore. The Kokkuri-san she calls ends up being a white-haired handsome, young man. Although he had intended to merely haunt her at first, he becomes worried about her terrible eating habit of cup ramen for every meal, so he decides to haunt her in order to protect her. Kiseijū: Sei no Kakuritsu - Shinichi Izumi is a normal high school boy whose right hand has become infected with an alien parasite that names itself "Migi" ("right"). Migi is the first parasite to develop a symbiotic relationship with its host, as he and Shinichi slowly develop a grudging friendship. Migi isn't the only Parasite on earth, however, and as cases of Parasites killing humans begin to emerge, humans seek to kill off Parasites. Shinichi and Migi find themselves caught in between these two sides of the struggle over planet earth. (Source ANN

Lee Joon and Thunder Leaving MBLAQ

On top of all the other scandals and members leaving their kpop groups, another one emerges. It was reported on Oct 12, 2014 that Lee Joon would not be renewing his contract with his company J.Tune Camp, and would also be withdrawing from MBLAQ to focus on his acting career.
Soon after, on Oct 13th it was reported that Thunder (more famously known as 2NE1's Dara's younger brother) would also be leaving the group to focus on his individual activities as a solo artist and producer.

MBLAQ was the first Kpop group and members I truly fell in love with after watching their many variety shows. Even though this news is sad, I'm not that surprised as MBLAQ hasn't promoted in awhile and with Lee Joon focusing on his acting in dramas and movies, it would make promoting as a group even harder.

So good luck to both Lee Joon, Thunder and the other members, I will support you no matter what!

SM Entertainment: Worst Company Ever

Over the course of this year (2014), many scandals have come out in the Kpop community and the majority of them were related to SM Entertainment.
It was also just reported today that Luhan is preparing to file a lawsuit against SM using the same lawyer as fellow ex-member Kris.

Here is a short timeline I put together of all the 2014 SM scandals

January 2, 2014: Girls' Generation member, Sooyoung, confirmed to be dating actor Jung Kyung Ho

March 14, 2014: EXO member, Kris, files lawsuit against SM Entertainment.

April 3, 2014: Girls' Generation member, Tiffany, confirmed to be dating 2PM's Nichkhun

June 18, 2014: Girls' Generation member, Taeyeon, confirmed to be dating EXO's Beakhyun

July 24, 2014: F(x) Member, Sulli, takes a temporary hiatus from her activities

August 19,2014:  F(x) Member, Sulli, confirmed to be dating Dynamic Duo's Choiza

September 24, 2014: Super Junior member, Sungmin, confirmed to be dating musical actress Kim Sa Eun

September 29, 2014: Girls' Generation member, Jessica, dropped from Girls' Generation

October 9, 2014: EXO member, Luhan, reported to have filed a lawsuit against SM

To be continued ....

(UPDATE)

October 14, 2014: Super Junior member, Sungmin, announces marriage with girlfriend/musical actress Kim Sa Eun

It's all down hill for SM Entertainment now, with outraged fans as well as stock prices dropping rapidly. Good Job SM, your company is officially the most hated Korean entertainment company in the kpop community.
